I finally went out and bought a pair of pants that fit.
Target had $10 pants on clearance, so I figured I'd give them a try -- my first foray into a dressing room since having the baby.
The 12s fit -- barely -- and looked terrible. So I bought both the 14s and the 12s, in order to have some aspirational clothing. Target has different kinds of fits now and the lower-rise and straighter hip version let me wear a Size 14 without too much extra fabric in the butt. It's odd to be a 14 again on the bottom when I'd been as small as an 8.
Every time I have lost weight, the successively smaller pants have been motivating. I can feel the fit and the lack of give, and I cannot be delusional about where I am size-wise. Wearing leggings and knit skirts makes me feel smaller than I am.
So, this jolt of reality just might help me get more serious again.
